Bad product, no response

I bought a ceiling Fan from acdc which worked fine for this season until the linkage broke and it plummeted to the ground. This part is the only thing on the fan that is plastic.why? i understand it can be an exception. not everything can be made perfectly but I expect some correspondence when i contact them.
