Open trucks cause sandblast damage to cars

Is there no better way for the Magnum Sand and Stone company to secure the loads of sand they transport on the road? All of their trucks are open and the sand is thrown out all over the road and it causes major damage on cars. The cars get sandblasted to an extent where it has to be repaired and also goes every where into the engine bay making it very dirty and clogging up the filter. I am sure they can put some covers on the trucks at least
