At their presentation on 15 Aug we were told that we could access their Portal within 48 hours of signing the contract and since my family was due to go overseas in Dec, I saw a holiday saving that would essentially pay for my VHI membership. On 16 Aug I called the VHI offices and they said that the access to the Portal would take 8-12 weeks (and not 48 hrs). As a result, on 16 Aug I wrote a reg letter & Email to VHI to cancel the contract - I referred to their Termination Clause which allows you 5 days to cancel the contract. On 17 Aug VHI called me saying that they had received my cancellation notification and apologised that some of their sales consultants had not communicated the facts properly.
On 23 Aug I received a welcoming Email from VHI & I responded via email that I had cancelled my membership.
On 5 Sept 2012 I received a Email letter from them stating that "Your application to withdraw from this agreement has been denied" stating that I did not meet the criteria for a withdrawal as set out in the termination clause of your agreement.
Since then VHI has still not acknowledged my cancellation. I have now logged a complaint with the Consumer Protection Act.
