Bell Tower

Personally I cannot understand why a church would set up their Bell to ring on the hour every hour (11pm = 11 rings) and every half hour 1 ring. This is in a residential area and I am sure all involved in this matter do not live in the area.
I understand the history of the bell but calling people to worship is fine, but waking people up throughout the night is totally selfish and uncalled for as it serves no purpose what so ever.
If its possible to get the Head of the churches contact details then I could phone him on the hour every hour through the night to see if he would be happy with that.
