I am an intern counselling psychologist in Durban. I submitted my internship programme for approval by the Psychology Board in October last year, and then again in December, when I was registered as an intern. Since I was registered as an intern I assumed that my programme had been approved, but upon querying this in April, I discovered that I was wrong. I then sent in my programme again, and it was supposed to be reviewed at the Education Committee meeting on 23 May. Since this meeting I have been desperately trying to find out what the outcome is, and to obtain the letter that states my internship has been approved - which I need to write the board exam next month. However, no one has been able to provide me with an answer, and now last week I found out that the programme still has to be sent to certain education committee members! I cannot believe that almost four months later I still have no answer (and board members rarely answer telephone calls or e-mails), and I am not able to write the board to qualify! I cannot believe that this is happening, and it seems no one at the HPCSA is interested in helping either. I have done everything possible, the HPCSA need to step up now!
