Partserve, pffft, pathetic!!!

Miscellaneous

I purchased a Lenovo Y500 Ideapad a while ago and I have been happy with the product.

I have tried to upgrade the machine by installing more ram and a solid state drive. On the Lenovo side, everything went smoothly. The problem occurred when with the local company charged (exclusively) with repairs and upgrades of Lenovo laptops under warranty.

Partserve requires one to bring in the laptop for inspection before a quote can be issued. Only after this can the parts be ordered and once they arrive the laptop must he brought in again for the installation. Once installation is completed (same day delivery not guaranteed) the laptop must be picked up once more. This three day delay was unacceptable to me, so I arranged to get a quote over the phone.

After four weeks of talking to practically everyone at Partserve I managed to get a quote. I paid for the parts, as detailed by the quote, but I was also informed that I would have to wait more than a month for the upgrade, and that it is now going to cost me ~R1000 more than the original quote.

I decided that this was unacceptable and cancelled the order. It is now a month later and I have not received my money back. This is pathetic!
