Factory fault on damaged base and matress

We purchased a sealy non-turn double bed from Morkels your 2 year gaurentee store in Paarl on the 03/09/2009, which we paid R5998.84 in cash, we were not aware of the sealy gaurentee or warranty status on the bed or matress, neither did anyone at the store inform us of the gaurantee or warranty status of the product. we actually purchased the bed and matress as both my wife and I were suffering with our lower back. After about a year the matress started sagging on both my wife and my side of the bed. we were'nt sure whether this was a normal wear and tear on the matress. The 01/12/12 the base of the bed broke on my side of the bed, i immediately got 2 bricks to support the part where it had broken. Monday the 03/12/12 i reported the whole incident to Morkels and they informed me that they would follow up with Sealy as the gaurentee on the purchase had expired but the warranty was still valid. I was sent an email informing me that they would send someone to inspect the bed, this was done and the man admitted that it was a factory fault. We are now required to pay a futher R1556.76 before we can have our bed replaced, as this range has been discontinued..
