No after sales service to branded item

I have bought a four security camera kit (4 Chanel H.264 Network DUR-Code 9093182) from Zakspeed Electronic World in Woodmead about 3 years ago. The main reason I bought there was that the unit had the name of ZakSpeed on it, although manufactured in Taiwan. I have asked about maintenance in case of problems afterwards with the unit and I was assured that there would be no problem. The unit performed well until May this year when one of the channel stopped working. I had a technician to fix it but I was told that the problems was inside the unit. I took it to Zak Speed, Woodmead, where the staff, although very sympathetic and trying to help, told me that they did not do repairs or had any spares. They contacted their head office in Cape Town, where Richard (manager) was sympathetic but told me the same story. Eventually, after some weeks, Richard indicated that I could buy the item through eBay which I did and got another company to fix the problem.
My complaint is that if A COMPANY SELLS ITEMS WITH THEIR NOME ON THEM AND PROMISE AFTER SALES SERVICE, THEY SHOULD HONOUR THAT PLEDGE and not clean their hand of the problem. Thanks Jose Clara, Sunninghill, Johannesburg.
