Account not decreasing whilst Paying monthly

I was handed over to The above mentioned for debit collection starting on 30 June 2012. The initial amount due then was R8 916.79. I started monthly EFT as from 30 Nov 2012. I have contributed a total of R5 000.00 but to my surprise, the amount due to be paid on this account as of 23 Jan 2013 is R8 167.65. I wonder if this account is going to be paid up. Please assist. I am able to send you their statement in which they are charging me R15.96 for telephone calls!
