Lying to customers

On Saturday 3 August at night I received a phone call from MBD saying I must pay half of my Truworths account and that is it, if I pay 50% of the outstanding amount, my account will be settled in full, I will receive a letter saying that I settled the account. The lady said that this was a one time offer cause my account is under R1000.00 I was driving at that time and told her I will do so the next morning. I paid R457.00 which she told me was the amount I had to pay, On Saturday 10 August I got another phone call from them saying that I still owe R5??? I was so shocked because I was told that my account would be settled in full if I paid the R457.00 Is this a way of them getting people to pay them, by giving them false information?? I received an sms saying I must open the following link to view my statement, but this link is not working. I WILL NOT PAY THE ANOTHER CENT!!! I can't believe they toe people like that!!
