Intercare
Flu vaccine turns infectious

Health & Medicine

I went and had the flu vaccine on Tuesday the 12th at Intercare Hazeldean Clinic just like everybody else I guess. On Wednesday it was very painful and a slightly red. Thursday morning the redness had gotten bigger and the pain worsened. I returned so that my doctor could have a look at it. She said that unfortunately I just had a bad allergic reaction to it By now my arm was significantly swollen and red. I could not sleep that night with pain and it seemed that the redness and swelling was spreading. Surely this side effect of "Vaxigrip" could not be normal? By Friday afternoon the pain was unbearable and the redness had spread. It looked horrific, like a huge burn wound. I returned to Intercare that night at 6:45pm and was seen by another doctor who then confirmed that I had indeed a huge infection from the vaccine. How does that happen for Pete's sake? She immediately started me on "Augmentin". Today is Monday and my arm is still extremely painful as it was injected into the muscle. All I can say is never again for a flu shot. you should think twice. It was extreme! What if it happened to a child? Don't know who is to blame but Intercare should follow this up!
