No clear process to gain authorisation

My GP referred me to a specialist, and I have been trying to schedule an appointment for about a month. The referral letter was sent to Discovery and they authorised it a day later than my appointment. Subsequently, I missed the appointment and called Discovery to establish the process in order to see another specialist as the original one was now fully booked, I was told to send an email to [Email Removed] with all the new details and I would then receive an authorisation number. 2 weeks later, I've still not had a response and when I follow up, I'm told to go back to my GP for another referral letter. Why should I have to go back when its the same type of doctor that I need to see, and doesn't anyone know what the correct procedure is? I'm being sent from "pillar to post" and it seems that Discovery doesn't actually care about a person's health, but rather protecting "their" money!
