Bank employees who are being made permanent are being forced to change from Discovery to Bankmed medical aid and are offered not even half the benefits Discovery has to offer, that is in South african law against public interest and therefore illegal, as in most bank employees views, its unfair, mainly because the benefits do not compare with Discovery and we as consumers are paying almost the same price on the medical aid. if Bankmed had deals, extra perks that would compete with Discovery then it would be competitive and acceptable, we as bank employees have no option as it is in our contract but to join Bankmed or left unemployed.
