Vitality points and status

Towards the end of 2013, I was sitting on approx 43, 000 Vitality points. In early December, a wellness day was organised at the company at which I work. I was under the impression that by doing the cholesterol, glucose, HIV tests etc, I would definitely obtain the remaining 2, 000 points to get me to Gold status. However, when I checked the points early January (as it takes approx 1 month to reflect), I discovered that I was still on Silver status. When I called to query this, I was told by the call centre consultant that these points are only obtainable once a year (as I had already performed these tests earlier in the year). If I had known this, I would have definitely organised another avenue to obtain the remaining required points. While the website now explicitly states that these points are only granted once a year, this firstly was not communicated to me, and was also not so clear on the Vitality website earlier in the year. It seems as if the 2014 guide has been updated to clarify these issues, however this was not the case in the 2013 guide. I am not frustrated, as I would have done other tests to get to Gold status, and now I am a year behind in getting to Diamond status.
