I recently joined Discovery Health. I was informed I wont have general day to day cover (doctors and so on) for the first three months as I did not have continuous cover with a previous medical aid. After proving to them that in fact I have had continuous cover for around 15 years prior, I was again informed that there is now still a three month no claim waiting period??? A new reason emerged... It now is because I joined as an individual? Even though it is through my work the company does not have "group cover" so I am then regarded as an individual. I eventually gave up arguing.

Chronic meds are however covered. I did my application and issued all proof accordingly. Discovery then insisted they also wanted a letter from my neurologist before approving this, no problem. But now when the bill comes for issuing the letter (doctors seem to be as bad as lawyers) they feel they don't have to pay for the letter that THEY requested??? Chronic department feels this cost doesn't fall under chronic and day to day say I have a three month waiting period??? - 33 mins on my mobile!

2 months, 2 disappointments - Cant wait to see what next month holds
