Pathetic service at Capetown Garden Court!!!

On the 14 November 2012, at the start of my honeymoon in Capetown, I attempted to check in at the Southern sun hotel. I was not recognised for my Director status at check in. I was made to wait almost 2 hours for a room. I had to follow up with reception for my room, as once we were told to wait, we were forgotten by the staff. I had to remind reception for my Frequent guest gift. Rooms seem old and not renovated. Toilet seat was loose. Calls to reception / in room dining / guest services often resulted in a long wait. Cleaning staff walked into my room to retrieve an iron I still using, whilst we stepped out for a short while. Did not feel safe. Cleaning of room left a smoke smell afterwards. Reception staff would not even look up and greet you if you walked past the desk. Overall this is was a nightmare for me. I was on honeymoon, and wasn't even recognised for this, even though I stated this when making the booking. I will never stay here again, nor will I recommend this hotel to friends and family. To date, the manager, Hennie Senekal, has not directly responded to my complaint, dated 26 November 2012. This was the worst experience I have had. And the poorest customer service!!
