We spent the weekend of 21 - 42 September 2013 at the hotel. We have a Protea Card (have had one for almost 20 years!). We paid cash for all our meals. The Saturday night was total chaos in the restaurant - it seemed as if there was a shortage of staff. We waited almost 2 hours for our meal. We paid cash and were not given a receipt. We did not think anything of it as we did not instruct them to add the meal to our bill. We booked out on the Tuesday morning and were informed that we had not paid for the Saturday night meal. We informed them that we had paid in cash but were not given a receipt as it was chaos in the restaurant that evening. We were told to pay again and that the hotel would contact us regarding the issue and refund us. We have to date had no communication from the hotel. The treatment received is not acceptable. We have used Protea Hotels for a number of years Should such a long standing customer not be given the benefit of the doubt? Not impressed - will never return!
