Unfriendly substandard: College Doge

When booking this accommodation College Lodge has been unresponsive and delayed communication about availability and paying the deposit. Upon payments no receipt was received until much prompting. After our booking we were informed that we needed to book for a minimum for three nights. The rate tripled to R1050 for a standard room per person per night. Upon check in no welcome was conveyed. Alcohol was not allowed onto the premises although Macufe was the main driver of tourism on the weekend. The Lodge did not have any bar from which alcohol could be bought as an alternative. No information about the event was made available at the Lodge. My partner was cornered when he was alone to produce his ID. The room had burn damage, a dirty carpet and a broken soap dish. Coffee was not made available and sugar was not refilled. Generally the attitude of the Lodge employees was unprofessional, unfriendly and hostile. The contrary of what is expected from such a high priced and centrally located venue at an international event such as MACUFE.
