Gems going the extra (s) mile!

On 23 August 2013, my. 18th month old son's thumb was severed in a slamming car door. He was rushed to the ER, and immediately admitted to emergency surgery. It was still a week before his Gems medical aid cover would be active, and I had no idea what to do - emergencies do not keep medical aid coverage in mind when they occur.
The hospital bills started rolling in...
I phoned Gems and crossed my fingers. The lady at the call centre connected me to Nkosazana. She explained that they can changed the coverage date to be earlier - 1 Aug, instead of 1 Sept. It would mean an extra premium this month, but that would mean the little one would be covered regarding the hospital bills.
She also gave me her direct email address, so that it could be processed faster.
