Non-payment of medical bills & lack of explanation

My wife's in-hospital fees for the birth of our son was not paid in full to the gynaecologist, and I have been enquiring since May 2013 the reason why the assistant's fee was never paid as my Gap cover also refuses to pay this fee. I have sent numerous unanswered emails, as well as countless calls, and to date have not had a satisfactory explanation why the Dr who assisted with the operation's fees was not covered by my medical aid. This was even escalated to the medical schemes council, with no response forthcoming, and it has been frustrating. As a result of this, and claims not being processed timeously, my wife and I have decided to cancel with Discovery, and now upon cancellation, they have sent us a bill for the savings portion owed to them. I work for a big company and it is so frustrating when companies fail to do what you pay them to do, but are more than prepared to be bureaucratic and uphold their rules when it suits them. My experience overall with discovery for the most part was ok, but my son's birth, which is meant to be a memorable occasion, has made me lose confidence in this company. I hope someone will finally respond to me as to what transpired here.
