Knee Replacement

I have to go for a Knee Replacement in Desember. I was told Medihelp only pays the dr and the anaesthetist 100%.For the hospital AND prosthesis they only pay R13330. Thats all. The rest, about R140000 will have to come out of my pocket. I can't understand why the hospital is not paid in full. Why do I have a medical fund. GAP cover only pays R15000 for prosthesis. I don't mind paying for prosthesis as it costs R50000. But the hospital. Why does Medihelp discriminate against replacements. If you need one, it has to be done. My only solution is to migrate to another Medical Fund and wait a year to have my operation done. All Medihelp members, if you are heading for any replacement sometime soon, change your medical fund. I am so disappointed and sorry that I joined Medihelp.
