Dodge the Silver Bullet

In 2000 my husband suffered a heart attack and was admitted to the Panorama Heart Unit. After 70 days in the ICU, unnnecessary heart surgery and numerous killer bugs, he died. My litigation against Mediclinic lasted 11 years - the "award" was that I would not have to settle the outstanding bill which was around R200, 000.00 (the medical aid had already paid R500, 000.00)!! My legal fees were about this amount anyway - thanks to lawyers who I feel did not have my best interest at "heart". This hospital was well aware of their infection problem yet they continued to admit patients regardless. The silver bullet is the antibiotic that they use to kill the bugs and eventually will kill the patient. Their slogan should be "Cash before Care".
