Pathcare
No communication, and expensive statement

I went to my doctor recently to have a growth removed, and sent to pathcare for tests. I asked the doctor before he continued with anything, how much it will cost to remove the growth, and how much the tests will cost (I do not earn alot, and my medical aid would not cover this, so i had to budget). He advised me that the tests will cost around R400. A month aftewards i received a sms from pathcare saying i owed them R1800 . I know the doctor does not work for pathcare, but how did we get from R400 to R1800? if i knew it was that expensive, i would never have continued with the work. With my earnings there is no way i can afford this. Were did the communication go as well? if additional tests had to be done from pathcare, couldnt someone call me and inform me about the additional charges? I did follow up with doctor to make sure there was no confusion with the test, and i allso tried to call pathcare (ref D3379086), and i spoke to a lady called Simone, who was not very helpfull to say the least. What can we do???
