Momentum Health
General waiting period apply with no reason

Health & Medicine

I recently joined momentum health, after being on Profmed for four years. I had no claims during the four years on Profmed, and was told by my broker (PFN) that I would have no waiting period because I was on a medical aid for more than two years. My wife however would have to undergo a three month waiting period because she had no medical aid yet. I received a quotation from momentum through my Broker, which stated that a three month waiting period apply. When I enquired about it, the broker reasured me that this would be only for planned hospitalisation, and that emergency procedures would be covered at the list of approved hospitals. Two weeks ago I injured my shoulder in an accident, and when I applied for approval, momentum replied that I was not covered due to the general waiting period of three months. They would cover the procedure at a state facility. Momentum and the broker gave me false information to get me to join. If I knew this, I would never have gone over from Profmed. Another thing that I can't understand is that Profmed is part of the momentum group, why do I have a general waiting period in the first place?
