I've been with discovery since 2010 and haven't experienced problems. I've recently changed my medical aid role from principal member to spouse member and we were given a new medical aid number. I'm on chronic medication that needs to be taken daily, otherwise I run the risk of becoming resistant to the medication should I skip a day. I went to collect my medication on the new medical aid number on Saturday and the claim was rejected. I called Discovery whilst at the pharmacy and a spoke to rude gentleman by the name of Shane. He told me that he couldn't help me as it was not his department that dealt with chronic queries. The chronic department apparently doesn't open on weekends and there are no team leaders who work weekends too. I told him what the health implications of skipping medication were for me and in a manner he told me I wouldn't die if I had missed one or two pills. I find this extremely insensitive and it leaves a horribly bitter taste in my mouth. He even insulted me further by telling me I wouldnt go to a GP for dentistry work, so I shouldn't be asking him to help me with this. This is disgusting customer service. I had to pay R530 to get meds from my pocke
