Wanted to share what I perceive as poor customer service and an unconsidered response to what I think was a reasonable request. Discovery sent a communication (which I did not see in time) on the 24th of June that I needed to visit the gym 5 more times before the end of June. I was unable to do so since I started a new project in Johannesburg and we wrote a very friendly letter to ask for an exception to be made. This was denied and now our gym benefit has ended. It is clear that Discovery are looking to get people off the old plan. We've been on vitality for more than 5 years, have insurance and life cover as well. I'm very tempted to move these elsewhere now.

Response from Discovery:

Your husband's gym membership has been cancelled as he did not reach the minimum required visits. We cannot consider a possible reinstatement as your husband had the option of upgrading his Virgin Active membership to a premiere membership, which would have given him access to any gym in the country.
