Urgent dentistry declined

We have been Medihelp members for around 9 years. We are on Dimension Prime 1.
I took my 8 year old son complaining from toothache to the dentist. She advised us to take him for an x-ray and returned the prognosis after discussion with the orthodontist that surgery in hospital under anesthetic was necessary, since 9 teeth needs to be extracted ASAP.
To do this in the chair is too traumatic for a kid.
Our dentist sent Medihelp a motivation letter since our plan covers "young children".
In my opinion 8 years is still a young child.
We received a decline letter from Medihelp (Denis) today stating my son does not qualify for the treatment because he is not young enough.
After trying to find the definition of "young child" online and on printed docs, we called the call centre.
After an hour on the phone with several people, we found out that their definition of young child is up to 5 years old!
Considering most 5 year old kids will not even have permanent teeth yet, the term "young children" is misleading.
Medihelp won't let us upgrade our plan till December.
This leaves us with R15k of unplanned expenses because technically he is too old!
