Membership cancelled with no warning

I am the main member on our Discovery Vitality membership and have a gym membership with Virgin Active for both myself and my husband. My husband received an email on how to reactivate his membership, but received absolutely no warning that his membership was going to cancel or that it had been cancelled I had emailed to reactivate his membership as I think this is unfair to not warn the members and I know of numerous people who they had done the same thing to and were successful in reactivating their membership. I received an email that said reactivating would be against their policy, but like I said I know of numerous people whose memberships were reactivated and they were also not warned when their memberships were cancelled. How can the policy apply to me and not to them? Unfair I think
