Pre-authorization - more than 40 minutes on hold!

I have now for 2 days tried to get pre-authorization for my little son's MRI tomorrow. I am now for the third time on hold for a ridiculous amount of time! it is now 42 minutes and counting. Previous time I ended the call at 30 minutes. I have now lost almost 2 hours of work and I am no closer to getting pre-authorization. This is laughable! what am I supposed to do?? now at 45 minutes I got cut off!!
