Don't expect longevity from LG products

I was informed that my LG refrigerator cannot be repaired as LG has discontinued the model and does not carry spares for it.

I was also informed that the service department regularly receives notices of discontinued products from their head office and that the average period for keeping spares is 6 to 8 years.

I do not believe that an expectation of a lifespan for a refrigerator in excess of 6 to 8 years is unreasonable and am extremely disappointed at LG's policy of only providing short term support for their products.
