IStore passes the buck to far away Apple Producers

Today I went into the IStore on Sandton Drive for a second time as I am forced to get a replacement cord for my laptop after 6 months. I have had to go to this store many times to resolve technical issues including the purchase of a laptop that crashed within the first week. Each time I have gone, there has been someone who, like me, has had to purchase a new cord. Unlike the PC computer laptop, the design of the cord is so poor (it is thin and has very little plastic to protect it), that it is easily damaged. First, they do not carry cords with plugs that are the same as the original laptop. The plug is actually not nearly as compatible as the original laptop. Second, there are lots of people who are facing the same problem as I do. When I asked three separate people at the IStore why they had not sought to address this, they simply passed the buck and said that the Apple Store is so far away. Although they acknowledged that the design was poor and that many people had brought the cord in to be replaced, they simply shrugged their shoulders. For employees working at an innovative company, I was shocked by the attitude.
