My fancy new Galaxy S3 can't even make calls

So I was super excited about leaving BlackBerry and moving to Samsung Galaxy S3... not any more! Cannot receive or listen to any phone calls unless I put speaker phone on. Have done two factory restores as well as the 297MB recommended software upgrade. Still no joy! Sigh... my old Blackberry may not have been as fancy, but at least it could make and receive calls properly. Please help Samsung S.A. or your fancy new product needs to go in the bin and Blackberry will have a new customer.
