Apple imac 20" repair prices shocking not worth it

I own an apple imac 20" which cost me nearly R20 000. A few days ago it wouldn't turn on. I took it to apple sandton for a quote on a repair only to find out it will cost me nearly R8000 because a new power supply is needed as well as a new board. A computer that cost nearly R30 000 is unacceptable. I was a huge apple supporter owning iPads, iPods ect only to find out that when something goes wrong you may just as we'll buy a new product. I think it's pathetic that the imac didn't even last that long and now for me to try cough up R8000. Please take this into consideration when buying an apple product. For that kind of money you can buy a top of the range windows computer or 3. I don't see how it's possible for both the power supply and the motherboard needs to be replaced its the same as replacing the entire imac. I'm very unhappy with apple and won't be wasting my money on these products again. Lesson learnt
