Education & Science

I first enrolled as a student at Unisa in 1993 and submitted my matric certificate to them. I again enrolled in 2010 and again submitted a certified copy of my certificate, both via post and at the Port Elizabeth Unisa office itself. Throughout my three years of study, I have paid my Matric exemption fee every year. I have also explained to Unisa countless times that when I got divorced, my ex husband disposed of many valuable and important items belongings of mine, including my matric certificate. On 3 March 2011, I applied for a reissue of my certificate. I am still waiting. This week alone, from Monday 7 January to today, 10 January, I have telephoned the Department of Education over 150 times. They answered once and then dropped my call. I have emailed a non-responsive Regional Director and his PA. All I could do was get a written and certified letter from my school confirming that I did indeed finish matric in 1986, as I have stated. Now, Unisa is not putting through my registration for Honours NOR are they giving me my degree, after three years of very hard work, because of the certificate issue. I am 44 years old. Cut me some slack, Unisa. I am desperate here.
