I recently completed my engineering degree at UKZN and required a letter of confirmation for employment purposes. I contacted the engineering department and I was told that these letter are generated automatically by the student records department at Howard college. I then contacted student records and was met by a most annoying individual who seemed too irritated to accommodate my call and kept snapping at me over the phone. I explained my situation as weel as the fact that I am in JHb and unable to come in myself. I was too that a letter costs R50 and that if I did an EFT it would take 3 weeks to reflect on their records and then only would they send my my letter which would take another 3 weeks! I then asked about obtaining an academic record and she said to me that the procedure was the same. She was very arrogant and I find it appalling that as a senior student of the University and a paying customer that I shoul be treated in such a manner! I have also emailed a Mr Gumede C and after a week I have had no response. I would like someone from Howard College to contact me on a way fforward.
