Inferior building workmanship

I appointed Mr Visser to build a wall enclosing the perimeter of my corner residential property. He was provided with an approved plan for the wall and assured me he could do the job successfully within 3 days. He required 50 % of the quote before commencing. When he said he had completed the job I paid him 75 % of the quoted cost, the rest subject to inspection. He agreed to return to rectify the job as necessary and was paid a further R10 000.00. An amount of R4100.00 was still outstanding, subject to final inspection. The wall, pillars and finishes are not level and the plaster is already cracking. One of the pillars was not plastered at all. The slush that was applied to hide the large patches and imperfections is also coming adrift and needs to be sanded of completely, since too little cement was used in the mixture.

In the meantime, Mr Visser continued to harass and intimidate me for the outstanding amount and threatened to break down the entire wall, the labour costs for which he said I was liable.

I am now having to rectify all defaults at further expense to myself.
