Sukamiza
Refusal to repair poor workmanship on upholstery

Construction & Repair

We are refurbishing an antique dining room table and chairs. We were referred to Sukamiza to reupholster the cushion inserts in the chairs. We collected the cushions and unfortunately paid. On closer inspection we saw the material used was cut to small, was fraying and poorly secured.

When I went to have the work redone the owner said it was done this way due to an instruction I made and usually they don't do this. I said I had never instructed them to limit material use or allow frayed areas to be visible. She refused to redo the work using larger pieces of material but said she would only secure it further.

I tried to take a ohoto of the work done and she did not allow it. She was very rude telling me to 'get out the shop' and 'not bang the door on my way out'. She seemed entirely unconcerned by her lack of costumer service, treated me like I did not know anything about upholstery and blamed her workmanship on my initial instructions.

I appreciate her trying to repair the damage (although I shudder to think what the outcome will be now) but she should have redone the work using more material and treated me with respect.
