"Peter the Plumber" replaced a faulty hot water cylinder element Saturday morning 14/09/2013. My wife handled the transaction and Peter sold her on the idea that the hot water cylinder required a "special" and durable hard water element.

For a job that took him approximately an hour to complete we were charged R2225.28 VAT incl. (and were given a non itemised invoice) for the more "special" element. As the element retails for around R300 (price discovered after installation), an hour or so of labour was at a rate of R1600.

Peter's also forced her to pay on the spot, thus allowing us no recourse. I conclude this is a tactic he uses to avoid any form of redress.
