Took deposit but never delivered

On 15/4 2013 we ordered a steel balustrade from Mr Venter who confirmed to start the installation middle of the following week. Phone calls to follow up where made on the following dates, 15/4, 23/4, 30/4, 5/5, 15/5, 23/5, 24/ 5, excuses: his subcontractors is working on another job or is in hospital or is overseas or the bakki broke down etc, finally on threatening legal action the deposit was returned to us on 27/5
In fact the the company is Crafted Structures CC trading as Kraftworx, the company registration number on his quotation does not match the actual registration number, he is also charging VAT on his invoice without providing a VAT registration number.
