What's the point of requesting a phone numbe

When you fill in a report about a company, the last detail requested is your Mobile Number but when you pass the report on to the company concerned there is no check on the number filled in and the number you have on your system.
The number on your system is from at least 3 years ago so when the company (Game) try contact me it is on the number from 3 years ago that you have on your system and not on the number i have supplied below...
