Matrix Warehouse Computers
Faulty hardware - Store claims there is no problem

Computers & Services

I bought a WS21 USB 3.0 2.5" SATA HDD Enclosure from the Bloemfontein Mimosa Mall branch of Matrix Warehouse Computers on 20Dec2013. The unit is faulty in the sense that it stops working after about 23 Gb of data is copied to a hard drive in the enclosure via USB 3.0. I took the unit back as soon as I came back from leave - 05Jan2014. The technician did not listen to what the problem is and kept asking where the hard drive is. I had to tell him again that I bought the enclosure, which I used with one of my own hard drives. My own hard drive is not faulty as it works perfectly in another USB 3.0 enclosure I own. The technician proceeded to test the unit on a USB 2.0 port. I told him again the issue exists when using a USB 3.0 port. He told me that they do not have a USB 3.0 port in the store to test it on. Shocking. How do they want to conduct business? I left the unit there overnight and picked it up today. The technician told me there is nothing wrong with the unit when they tested it. Sure enough, when I got home, the same thing happened. I believe the unit was never tested. I just wasted R180 on a faulty HDD enclosure and I will never buy anything there again. Very disappointed.
