Pick n Pay Clothing Store
Poor Customer Service Experience

On 4 April 2026, I visited Pick n Pay Clothing at Eastgate for the first time, and the experience was both deeply disappointing and unacceptable. After selecting my items, I proceeded to queue at the till. At that point, only one customer was being assisted, and I was clearly first in line and next to be served.
Despite this, another customer positioned herself on the opposite side of the counter. A teller by the name of Khosi then arrived and proceeded to assist that customer ahead of me, entirely disregarding the existing queue. When I calmly pointed out that I had been waiting first, she responded in an extremely rude and dismissive manner, instructing me to start the queue again on the other side.
What made this situation even more frustrating is the complete lack of visible signage, arrows, or any form of queue guidance. As a first time customer, there was absolutely nothing to indicate where the queue begins, making this confusion entirely avoidable had basic customer flow measures been in place.
When another teller later called me to the counter, I raised these concerns respectfully and asked why no signage exists to guide customers, particularly those visiting the store for the first time. I also requested the name of the teller who had treated me so poorly. Khosi responded arrogantly, simply stating her name with no apology, remorse, or attempt to take accountability for her conduct.
I am extremely dissatisfied with this entire interaction. The absence of clear queue management, coupled with unprofessional, discourteous, and confrontational behaviour from staff, reflects poorly on the store and raises serious questions about customer service standards and staff training.
Customers deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and basic courtesy. Staff should de escalate confusion, not exacerbate it through rudeness and hostility. This experience has left me with grave concerns about the calibre of customer service at this branch.
I expect a formal response outlining how this matter will be addressed and what corrective steps will be taken to prevent a repeat of such treatment. I trust this complaint will be treated with the seriousness it warrants.
Not a great first impression at all.
