Ford
Faulty car ignition - Car still relatively new

Cars & Transport

Hi, I purchased my Ford figo 1.4 at Ford Silverton towards the end of 2011. My car was due for a service because it had reached 20 000km. Took it for a service at Ford Centurion on the 11/4/2013 and I asked that they also check my ignition because I was battling to start my car for quiet so time. Car was serviced and I paid because I don't have a service plan. Was told to bring it back on the 12/4/2013 because I needed a new ignition and that I would'nt have to pay because it is part of my warranty. Dropped the car on the 12/4/2013 only to receive a call later that I would have to pay because my warranty is no longer valid because I brought my car for a service 6 months to late. The service book says 20 000km or 12months, my KM was in the 20 000 range. Called Ford in Silverton where I bought the car and they said its 20 000km or 12 months which ever one comes first. This is not how it was explained to me, I worked on my KM. And the fact that I need a new ignition meant that there was factory defect when I got the car. I had to pay R525 for a new ignition. A new car should'nt have an ignition problem now already. Ford should bare the R525 cost they sold me a car with a faulty ignition
