My husband and I spent 6 days in Durban from 27/03/2013 to 02/04/2013. A colleague of mine recommended that we make use of Europcar. We received a quote which seemed acceptable and were told that a deposit is due when the car is booked out. Once the vehicle is returned, the diffrence between the quoted amount, including refuling the car, will be refunded to us. Initially we were told that the difference in deposit would be refunded within 48 hours, but after 4 days I had to make contact with them. We were surprised to find out that we were suddenly billed for all types of extra charges such as "additional driver surcharge" and a Admin fee. According to Europcar, because my husband was the driver of the vehicle, but we used my credit card to pay, it boils down to an "additional driver"??? When we booked the car out, nobody informed us of this (although now, the gentleman that served us is saying he did) and two of us could not have heard incorrectly. I would like Europcar to refund the additional driver surcharge, as well as the admin fee as this was not communicated prior to us booking the vehicle out. The way I feel now, is to never make use of Europcar again.
