Dunlop
REFUSAL TO PROVIDE RECEIPT

Cars & Transport

I attended Dunlop, Germiston, on 25 March 2013 at 3pm, as I needed assistance fixing a flat tyre.

A plug was inserted into the tyre and the puncture was fixed. The costs thereof was R30.00. I paid in cash. Upon payment I requested a receipt from the assistant (an Indian male).

I was advised that receipts are prepared at a costs of R10.00. I understood that this was a joke and asked if the assistant was kidding. He answered "no". The assistant quickly lost his temper and said that he will only prepare an invoice upon payment of R10.00. I advised him that his actions are contra the provisions of Section 26 (2) of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008. I am familiar with the contents the Act is I am an Attorney.

I was advised not to "tell him how to run his "f#@" business." He threatened to remove the plug from the tyre if I persisted with my request for a receipt. I was surprised with his actions and asked him again if he was joking. The assistant was furious and instructed his staff to remove the plug.
