Charged for car I did not take

On the 21st of Feb I requested a quote from the Avis agent at Kimberley airport. I then went to get a quote from First Car Hire and then accepted First Car Hire's quote. As I drove out of Kimberley in First Car Hire's vehicle I got an SMS from the bank showing that Avis had reserved R2560.48 on my account. The following day I called the branch and I was assured the funds would be released in 2 days.

Today is the 1st of March and my bank confirmed the funds are still reserved by AVIS. I spoke to the manager, Rian, this morning and he can't trace the funds. I have never hired a vehicle from avis before and I don't think I will ever hire from them.
