Drove into local bosh service centre because there was a funny noise coming from the engine, inspected by workshop manager, awaited for a quotation from the bosh. i am no mechanic, he diagnosed the problem and said its the vvt gear which will cost me R4500 excl labour. like i said i am no mechanic so the sensible thing to do is get a second quotation. which i did from another workshop. turned out the problem was not the vvt gear. second diagnoses was cam belt tensioner which is no where in that price region (R1000 incl labour and vat) and the car is running perfectly.

bosh is a reputable company and this was very disappointing to get that kind of service from them. i lost Faith in the company. for silly diagnostics like that with such exobatant repair prices i was willing to sell my car, price for a new engine is R6000.
