Proton
PROTON NOT MADE FOR SA CONDITIONS

Cars & Transport

My friend is driving a 2011 Proton Satria Neo 1.6 with 25850km on the clock. She took the car in because of a noise on the wheels and was told that the Front Brake disks, which must be replaced after 15000km, was faulty and it will cost her R9000.00 to replace. I accompanied her to the dealership. AMH Multifranchise in Bloemfontein, on which the service agent told us that the discs are not replaced on 15000km, but only checked. They then explained that the damaged was caused by either repeated hard slamming of the brakes or driving with ones foot on the brakes. This begs the question why would the same person drive the car for 15000km without doing what is been explained as the reason for the damage and then do it in the next 10000km? Is there a fault on the side of the vehicle callipers or is the reason for the damage the "15000km replacement" of disks. It is clear that this car was not made for driving in the SA conditions and they don't want acknowledge it.
