Door repair, returned with damaged radio

I understand that it is my responsibility to remove my valuables from the car before handing it in, so I blame myself for the USB charger that is missing from the car lighter slot. What I do not understand is how when a door is being repaired, the radio knob gets broken off.
What goes on in these panel shops that you trust with your car for days at a time. The radio station was changed, the back seats were adjusted. Why is all this happening when the car should just have work done on the driver's door?
