No commitment from DHL to airfreight delivery time

I ordered items for our sport shop from a company in the USA. Dhl gave a quote for a 4-7 day delivery to South Africa. I accepted the quote and paid about 840 US dollars to have the express shipment done. The parcel arrived in Johannesburg on 17 Dec 2013 which could be seen via the tracking system. Dhl should have contacted me upon arrival of the parcel and sent me an invoice for the payment of VAT and duties. This never happened. I phoned left messages but nobody ever came back to me. Out of desperation I contacted DHL express but they could not help either as it was an international parcel. Needless to say everybody closed for Christmas. I eventually got hold of somebody at DHL Global in JHB, but was informed that they could only ship the items after 6 January!
I have expressed my dissatisfaction with Dhl USA and indicated that I have paid a premium for an international airfreight delivery and that I believe that the cost should now be discounted significantly as I still have not received my parcel now (It is 7 January 2014) Everybody at Dhl are making excuses but my company have lost sales as a result of the late delivery. I am not happy with the poor service I have received
